WHAT OUR CLIENT WANTED - When a family moved into a larger home in Greenwich, CT, it was the perfect moment to leave behind their dark “starter” furniture and reimagine their interiors entirely. They came to Luminosus Designs looking for a home that felt both sophisticated and welcoming for family life. Their tastes weren’t identical—the wife gravitated toward traditional design, while the husband envisioned something closer to a gentleman’s lounge—but they shared a love for all things French. Adding to the challenge was a lighting scheme that left much of the home feeling dim and underwhelming.

The solution was a layered, thoughtful transformation that balanced durability with elegance. In the family room, Mimi selected indestructible ultrasuede for the sofa and paired it with a distressed leather ottoman that only improves with age. The formal living room’s soft gray palette nodded to the husband’s desire for a lounge-like atmosphere, while a classic window seat flanked by built-in bookcases created a moment the wife had always wanted.

Throughout the home, Provençal influences appear in subtle, charming ways—from vintage French posters to the bistro-style dining room and the French country kitchen with its industrial-chic breakfast nook. Lighting was completely rethought: three pendants now anchor the kitchen island, recessed lighting was reworked across the first floor, and carefully placed table lamps add warmth and depth throughout.

Most recently, Luminosus Designs completed the primary suite—a serene retreat with just a touch of Zen. The upholstered wall, wrapped in horizontally pleated silk fabric, became the quiet, luminous finishing touch.
