Indian Field Living Room 5

WHAT OUR CLIENT WANTED - A family’s move to a larger home in Greenwich was the impetus to ditch their dark “starter” furniture and enlist Luminosus Designs to come up with a whole new look, one that was sophisticated, but still kid-friendly. The wife liked traditional while the husband wanted a gentleman’s smoking lounge vibe; they both loved all things French. Add a deficient lighting scheme to the challenge, and the Luminosus team had their work cut out for them.

Mimi chose indestructible ultra suede for the family room sofa; the ottoman is made of distressed leather that looks better with use. The gray palette in the formal living room was a nod to the husband’s request for a lounge feel, a traditional window seat flanked with built-in bookcases for their collection of cookbooks pleased the wife. Provençal touches are everywhere, from vintage French posters to the bistro-style dining room to the French country kitchen with a sweet industrial chic breakfast nook. Three pendants were added above the island to brighten the kitchen and the recessed lighting on the entire first floor was restructured. Strategically placed table lamps added yet another layer of light—a very bright idea. Most recently Luminosus Designs designed the master suite, a serene sanctuary with just a touch of Zen. The upholstered wall with horizontally pleated silk fabric? Divine inspiration.
